In the realm of TikTok, there’s a Texan husband who’s not taking any nonsense from the naysayers. They’ve been accusing his wife, Divine, of being in it for the dough just because she’s got the looks. But let me set the record straight for you: Scott, the Texan gent, and Divine, hailing from the Philippines, crossed paths in 2017. It all started with a serendipitous Facebook message, you see when Divine mistakenly thought he was someone else.
Scott admits that before he met Divine, his life was pretty boring.
A Facebook mix-up led to a long-distance romance, culminating in marriage when Divine moved to the USA. They maintained an online relationship for four years, with Scott visiting six times.
Scott has battled scleroderma since age 13, an autoimmune disease causing skin and body inflammation. The illness led to a homebound life, causing him to miss high school and college experiences.
At 22, Scott defied his health challenges, eager to embrace a more normal life. Meeting Divine ignited his desire to travel despite doctors’ doubts due to low oxygen levels. He proved them wrong, visiting the Philippines six times. Scott’s family attests that Divine brought joy and confidence into his life, making him happier.
Despite the online backlash, they have dedicated supporters.
In 2021, they launched their joint TikTok, but doubters persisted. The misconceptions: green card ambitions and wealth are the sole reason. They just chuckle at it, knowing their journey’s far from such intentions.
Insensitive comments flooded in, with one person suggesting, “When you’re at work, I doubt she is loyal to you,” and another claiming, “This girl be mad using him. The sad thing is he doesn’t realize it.”
They recently made a TikTok video responding to a comment, “Wow. He isn’t cute at all. Come on. Be real with us.” To which Scott answered, “Guess it doesn’t really matter — she thinks I’m handsome.” Taking it even further, Divine said, “Yeah, what are you talking about, guys? My husband is very, very handsome,” she grabbed his face, caressing his cheek and giving him a huge kiss on the lips.
Amidst the hate, they also have a supportive fan base. Fans gush, “Wow, you are both so classy! Very nice couple indeed.” One defender shot back at the haters, saying, “Why are you so bothered about what they post on THEIR account? Get a life.”
The couple gave a recommendation to couples in a long-distance relationship.
“The only thing I can recommend is just to have patience because long-distance is hard, and you’re always going to make sacrifices to be in their life no matter how far away or what time it is,” opens up Scott. “Trust the process,” adds Divine.
Another TikTok couple, Alin and Maria, faced backlash due to a 220 Lbs weight difference. Alin initially kept their relationship secret, fearing judgment. Now, they share their story to promote love without judgment.
